About Us
Clear-Q Ltd formed in November 2006 to research and develop new approaches to congestion management in converged telecoms networks.
Our founder: Chris Horton.
With a BSc in Electronic Engineering, Chris became an electronics design and systems engineer in a variety of industries including defence, agriculture, medicine, and automotive electronics. After completing an MBA, he gained business experience as a technical consultant, business angel, and director of a coatings and graphics firm.
In 1999, Chris joined a major wireless infrastructure vendor in a technical marketing role, responsible for billing and traffic modelling for data applications. He played a key role in extending their Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) project from the USA to Europe and the rest of the world.
During this time, Chris became sceptical about the established Quality of Service (QoS) standards, questioning why, despite a quarter of a century of research, QoS has never really happened. His knowledge of microeconomics and automotive quality engineering led to a queuing mechanism that simply delivers consistent service quality and optimum network value, with less reliance on the conventional QoS solutions that would be so complex to build, deploy and operate.
